Lois Moss-Barnwell our Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator, can help with personalized, common sense nutrition evaluation and counseling.
LFAC welcomes Lois, a Registered Dietitian (RD), Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) and Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). She provides individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy and Nutrition Consultations. Lois brings extensive nutrition and diabetes education expertise from healthcare environments, including hospitals and the community, physician practices, corporate wellness sites, fitness performance center and a healthcare association. Lois has a M.S. in Nutrition & Food Science from NIU and a B.S.in Medical Dietetics from the U of I, Medical Center.

What to Expect during a nutrition visit?

- Initial Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) Visit – 60 to 90 minutes
- Review medical diagnosis and history, including labs/tests
- Evaluate nutrition status, physical activity and lifestyle
- Create a personalized nutrition program including activity & behavior change
- Formulate interactive goal setting, incorporating personal preferences
- Follow-up MNT Visits – generally 30 to 45 minutes
- Review tracking tool results & lifestyle change progress
- Add recipe suggestions, grocery shopping tools, restaurant nutrition guides
- Review progress status to attain desired goals
- Adjust nutrition and lifestyle plans as needed
